Common Inquiries
Pre-Sales Questions
What is the SenAir system and what does it do?
The SenAir is an advanced air quality and environmental monitoring unit. It continuously measures pollutants and weather conditions and lets you monitor and control them remotely in real time. It gives you a complete picture of your environment’s health – from dust levels and gases in the air to rainfall and wind patterns – all accessible through an online dashboard.
What makes SenAir different from other air quality monitors?
SenAir combines multiple sensors, rugged outdoor design, a 360° camera, and smart alerts in one unit. It has built-in Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and 3G/4G, plus solar and battery options for remote use. It’s professional-grade yet easy to set up, with remote access, reporting, and modular sensor options that cheaper monitors simply don’t provide.
What environmental parameters can SenAir monitor?
Out of the box, SenAir measures dust particles (PM1, PM2.5, PM4, PM10), temperature, humidity, pressure, wind speed and direction, rainfall, volatile organic compounds (tVOC), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and location (GPS). Optional sensors include hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) and other gases like ozone, ammonia, formaldehyde, and sulphur dioxide.
Installation and Setup
Is the SenAir unit suitable for outdoor use?
Yes – it is IP65-rated, weatherproof, and designed for harsh environments. It runs reliably from -10°C to +60°C and up to 95% humidity.
What do I need to install the SenAir unit?
A mounting point (wall or pole), a power source (24V DC, or 220V AC), (the unit comes standard with a solar panel), and optionally an internet connection (Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or SIM card for 3G/4G). The unit comes with a built-in backup battery.
Can I install and set up SenAir myself?
Yes. It is, however, recommended that our trained and skilled technical installation teams come and install it.
Does SenAir require an internet connection to work?
No. It will measure and store data locally (64GB memory) even offline. An internet link is only needed for remote access and cloud features.
How big is the SenAir device, and can it be easily mounted?
The unit is about 70cm × 12.5cm × 6cm and weighs around 12kg. It’s slim and designed for secure outdoor mounting with brackets or clamps.
Technical and Operational Support
What sensors are built into SenAir?
Standard sensors cover dust (PM1–PM10), temperature, humidity, pressure, wind, rainfall, VOCs, NOx, and GPS. Optional sensors can be added as needed.
Can I access SenAir’s data remotely and in real time?
Yes. You can log into the Senzo cloud web portal anywhere in the world to see live readings, graphs, and history.
What connectivity options are available?
Wi-Fi, Ethernet, 3G/4G (SIM card), and industrial protocols like RS485/CANBUS.
Can I add more sensors later?
Yes – the design is modular. Sensors can be added or swapped out in the future.
Can SenAir integrate with other systems?
Yes. It supports Modbus TCP/IP, RS-485, and cloud exports (CSV, API), making it easy to integrate with SCADA, BMS, or reporting systems.
Why does SenAir have a 360° camera?
To provide visual context. If readings spike, the camera can show what’s happening (dust cloud, smoke, etc.), triggered automatically or on demand.
Will I get alerts if something goes wrong?
Yes. You can set thresholds for any parameter, and the system will send alerts by email or SMS. It also reports system health and faults.
Troubleshooting and Maintenance
What should I do if the unit stops responding?
Check power and internet. You can always connect locally via Wi-Fi or Ethernet. The unit has an auto-reset watchdog, but if needed, simply restart it. Senzo support can assist if issues persist.
Does SenAir need regular maintenance or calibration?
Very little. Sensors are long-life (many >10 years). A yearly check-up for cleaning inlets and verifying calibration is recommended.
How do I update the system software?
Updates are done remotely via the secure web interface. Senzo provides notifications when updates are available.
Cloud Platform and Web Portal
How do I access the cloud portal?
Just log in through any web browser with your Senzo credentials. No software needed.
Can I monitor multiple units or sites?
Yes. The portal supports multi-site and multi-device management on one dashboard.
Is my data secure?
Yes. All data is SSL encrypted with multi-tier user roles (Admin, Engineer, User, View-Only).
Do I need a subscription to use the cloud?
Yes. Cloud access and mobile data transfer is included In the monthly subscription of SenAir. Advanced reporting is also included in the monthly subscription.
Reporting & Analytics
Does SenAir provide regular reports, or do I need to make them manually?
Reports are automatically generated every month. They summarise data, highlight exceedances, and provide easy-to-read graphs and tables.
What information is included in the monthly reports?
Data capture rates, weather summaries, dust exceedances, source attribution, visuals like polar plots, and conclusions for compliance.
Can these reports help with regulatory compliance?
Yes. They are designed to align with official air quality standards and provide the evidence regulators expect.
Do the reports identify what caused high readings?
Yes. Reports include wind-based source analysis to show whether spikes came from your operations, regional background, or both.
Can I share the reports externally?
Yes. The reports are in a professional, standardised format suitable for regulators, management, and communities.
